Playing with Digsby (IM+Email+Social Networking app)
Posted on April 4th, 2008 | by admin |I’ve been playing with Digsby recently and it seems pretty cool. It’s like your traditional IM application like pidgin or trillian but includes email and social networking integration. So far the social networking is limited to myspace, facebook and twitter, the three I’m on :). The only IM it seems to be missing in my opinion is IRC and Skype but based on the a recent poll that seems to be the most requested new features so I hope to see that soon. It’s nice to have an app take the place of a bunch of tabs open in Firefox.
I wish I could say its more solid but it did just come out of beta. I’m only speculating here but it feels like it’s built on Java. At least the huge memory footprint leads me to believe so. There seems to be some basic skinning options going on and it wasn’t difficult to find one I can live with.

Based on the screenshot above I can only assume these series of posts are coincidence. Either that or Amber’s rubbing it in that I’m not going to Australia.

I still use pidgin for linux and adium for osx. But I read about this and it sounds really cool just too bad there isn’t an osx or linux port in the works.
