Oh what a feeling
Posted on May 1st, 2005 | by admin |So I’m finally on my third tank of gas on my little 250 and I’m feeling really safe and comfortable on it. I took the Motorcycle Safety Foundation Basic Rider Course last weekend and passed with a perfect score. I had been waiting almost 2 months for that class and the while time my bike had been sitting chained up next to my apartment. I had been itching to take her out the whole time but I was good and waited, and man was it well worth the wait. The course was a lot of fun, I really enjoyed the instructors and the other students. Surprisingly I was one of very few guys, there are a lot of girls interested in riding. Our afternoon riding class was about 12 people and though we were only together for a total of 12 hours we all really connected in that time. I guess its one of those breakfast club kind of things that rejuvenates my beliefs in society being good.
It was hard to sleep Sunday night, knowing that Monday morning would bring a trip to the Purgatory, or the Department of Motor Vehicles, as others put it. I tossed and turned for a while like a kid on Christmas Eve. When I finally did make it to the DMV in the morning I was kindly greeted by Ali’s mom. I passed the written test with flying colors and had my picture taken for my new license. Finally my license has gone horizontal again (Kids under 21 get vertically oriented licenses). I’ve got the biggest grin on my new license and I don’t think its about to wear off.
I’ve got almost 200 miles on my rebel and have already taken two passengers out for a spin. Every mile I drive on my little 250, which Ali has named Ember, I feel more safe and confident. I get greeted by bikers on the road on all makes and models which feels nice, and I believe I’ve become a safer automobile driver through the experience.
I haven’t driven my car much, but when I do it’s a weird sensation. Gas on the right, brakes on the left… Turn the big wheel thingy to turn. Don’t worry, there’s no clutch… Ahhhhh….
I’m sure I could go on and on but I’ll just pretend that my break from blogging never happened and continue on… Oh yeah, Harrison went to LA, Wess moved in, and I’m still on the lookout for a dance partner.

It’s when you’re dancing on the celling. Reference: Bad 80’s music video. where they paint the floor to look like the celling and the tack furniture to the celling. (*Trick* Photography)
