Here we are. Born to be kings.

I just finished listening to my favorite podcast; This Week in Tech, or TWIT. It’s a talk radio show featuring the old cast of my favorite show on TechTV (Before it was bought by G4) “The Screen Savers”. It’s really cool to hear Leo Laporte, Patrick Norton, Kevin Rose, and gang together again. Check it out at www.twit.tv

Work has been going well. My desk is covered in nice new Dell PowerConnect switches and Orinoco wireless access points. I’m trying to learn the ins-and-outs of these components before they go to work in our new office in Vienna, VA.

Last Tuesday I was up in our Herndon, VA office to give a presentation to the CEO. The boss came in a bit late and really frustrated. His notebook had crashed and a file he was working on was gone. Before I could give the presentation I had to recover his files. Thankfully we carry spare notebooks so it wouldn’t be too hard to get him up and running again if I could only get the files off his machine, which wouldn’t boot into Windows. Safe mode wouldn’t boot either. I figured this was the perfect time to whip out a copy of Bart PE, a bootable Windows XP CD used by sysadmins for system recovery. Bart PE booted and I was able to see the documents on the boss’s computer, but it wouldn’t get on the network, and wouldn’t see a USB flash drive I had plugged in either. Well if Bart PE isn’t going to work, I might as well try out Knoppix 3.8. I booted the machine up into Linux and instantly got on the network, saw the USB flash drive, and recovered his files. It was so easy to use I caught the boss playing around with Linux while I was setting up his new machine. Ironic that the cure for a corrupted windows drive is a fresh copy of Linux. Go penguin!

Oh, and on a sad note, my favorite Bit Torrent site, btefnet.net was shut down. That’s where I used to download my TV episodes every week. I guess I’ll have to either start watching TV when the programs are scheduled like everyone else, or roll my own DVR. (Or find another bit torrent site, linky’s are welcome).

We’re the princes of the universe!

After Tess was killed off, the whole thing just started to blow. Much like what was done to ‘keter.

I wish I could see what had been done to ‘keter, but seasons 2-5 arent out on DVD yet. At least there’s 24, which is just as unbelievable as ‘keter, but there are so many similarities in the stories its freaky.

Did you ever tap into “The Agency.” Very well written senarios, but did the Keter/Michael thing towards the end that just killed it.
