Disaster at the HakHouse. Part 2 - Demolition brings upgrades

Posted on April 27th, 2008 | by admin |

The demolition has begun. Most interrior walls are coming down fully while the exterrior walls are getting 2 feet removed from the bottom. The kitchen is getting pretty much fully gutted. Before I left for Missouri the cabinets, counter tops and floor had been removed. As far as I know the ceiling is coming down too.

I’m a little out of the loop at the moment as I’m visiting Shannon but watching Matt’s flickr has given the project some insight. With the walls town into Matt has taken the opportunity to upgrade the cabling to and from the downstairs closet, our little mini-NOC if you will.

From the looks of things Matt has probably run a little more Cat5 than I can imagine us needing on set, but then again you can never have too much Cat5.

The distribution box in the closet is looking much better as well. It seems as though the makeshift rack on the wall has been removed. Considering the ittybittyness of our mini-itx servers relocating them to the shelf above might be a space conserving solution.

Well I’m still out in Missouri with Shannon until Tuesday so I’ll be following Matt’s flickr for further HakHouse demolition. From what I understand from the guys the place is soon to be uninhabitable and thus the insurance folks will send us to a corporate apartment/vacation home place to live for a while. Still not really sure how that’ll impact shooting Hak5 3×10 or GTA4 pwning.

Oh, and the other night on IRC pronobozo said something that just tickled my geek funnybone. “Hak5 intertubes: 100 megawet burstable!”

I am totally glad to hear that you found something good out of the situation.

I feel for ya though. Hope we can still get a kick-a$$ episode of hak.5 in the end though, but I have no doubt we will.
