Cold Boot Attack

Tuesday, July 14th, 2009 - General - No Comments

As I mentioned on Hak5 episode 522, performing the cold boot attack is pretty simple. I’ve heard a few comments about people having a bitch of a time getting things compiled so for those looking for the scraper.bin I provide it here. This is a 32 bit version which will work on 64 bit systems but it only grabs the first 3.5-4 GB of RAM. Anyway, just dd it over to your thumb drive with “dd if=scraper.bin of=/dev/sdb” where sdb is your drive. There’s a great article over at Linux Journal that does a good job of explaining the whole mess.

Good hacking.
